About the course

Course content

The students shall acquire a scientific understanding of how physical activity and training can affect the standard of health and prevent development of diseases in the population. The students shall develop knowledge and skills to evaluate published papers, with sufficient knowledge to plan and complete a scientific project. The students will during the course prepare an assignment and present this orally for the other students in the class. All presentations will be discussed in plenary.

Learning outcome

The goal of the course is to teach the students to master science-based knowledge related to physical activity in disease prevention and health promotion. The students shall learn to interpret and apply published papers in the field.

Learning methods and activities

42 hours lectures/exercises/group work.

Compulsory assignments

  • 70% participation in exercises/group work
  • Approved presentation.

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Bevegelsesvitenskap (MBEV)

Required previous knowledge

Admission to master’s degree in human movement science.
