About

About the course

Course content

The course contains methods and applications of electromyography (EMG) in human movement science. This includes the background of EMG and different methods for collecting, analysing and interpreting EMG signals. There will be 3 sessions of lectures, seminars and discussions. Participation in all 3 sessions is obligatory. For all 3 sessions, all PhD students will prepare a lecture or presentation on a pre defined topic. In the first session, students will give presentations about the background of EMG and different methods for collecting and analysing EMG signals. In the second session, students will give presentations about different applications and interpretations of EMG. In the third session, students will present a proposal of their term paper which involves the use of EMG in a specific research problem, preferably related to their own PhD project. The course may be used as a part of the methodological training.

Learning outcome

The aim of the course is to develop further knowledge about and understanding of electromyography (EMG) for application in the field of human movement science. Emphasis will be put on the understanding of the various analyses methods.

Learning methods and activities

Three sessions of lectures, seminars and discussions. Part of the course is taught in English, and the whole course can be taught in English if requested. The course is offered when teaching resources are available and sufficient persons are registered.
