About the course

Course content

The aim of the course is to give an introduction to the different characteristics of water, and further to throw light on the way these characteristics influence aquatic animal and plant life, at individual and community level. Important subjects include community structures, and control of communities through top control (predator control), or bottom control (available food).

Learning outcome

On completion of the course the students should be familiar with basic freshwater ecology.

Lectures: 38 hours
Field course: 3 days, mandatory
