About the course

Course content

The course provides the students with an basic understanding of the interactions between organisms in bentic and pelagic food chains, and further also the central ecological mechanisms regulating the organisms interactions and their specific life conditions and environment. An important topic will be the functional roles of the organisms in the ecosystems. Examples of ecological interactions will focus on areas of coastal eutrophication, aqua culture and global fisheries.

Learning outcome

On completion of the course the students should be familiar with central mechanisms in marine ecosystems.
