About the course
Course content
Students will get a basis in systems biology, allowing them to consider experimental approaches for research. The course will be focused on: Omic technologies, data types
Standards and formats
Web-based resources, portals organism specific resources, public databases, bioinformatics tools for text mining and knowledge management
Data integration approaches
Basic modeling tools
Experiment design
The course will be given in the form of lectures based on a book, and on relevant scientific papers describing such resources. There will also be PC exercise hours. The course will be relevant for molecular (cell) biology students interested in systems biology.
Learning outcome
The course will give students an introduction to the field of systems biology
Learning methods and activities
Lectures will be in English, in addition there will be PC-work. Exams will be written. Exercises

Recommended previous knowledge
Molecular Biology, molecular cell biology, biotechnology. Basic knowledge of statistics will be required.
