BI8002 - Advanced Biosystematics
Course content
Seminars will cover advanced theory and methods in systematics/taxonomy. Topics include phylogenetic reconstruction; use of phylogenies in the study of evolution (comparative method); phylogenetic analysis of intra-specific variation in relation to geography and ecology (phylogeography); studies of earlier demographic changes using genetrees and coalescence theory (phylodemography).
Learning outcome
On completion of the course the students should be familiar with advanced theory and methods in biosystematics. The course runs every second year, next time in spring 2011.
