About

About the course

Course content

The course runs every second year in the autumn semester (2010, 2012).
The course will be concerned with classes of pollutants, and the mechanisms by which they influence processes in biological systems. Function mechanisms at the cell-, organ-, organism-, population- or community- level are seen in a biomarker context. The course will consider the theoretical concept of biomarkers, and give particular emphasis to different classes of biomarkers and biological variables used as biomarkers.

Learning outcome

On completion of the course the students should be familiar with classes of pollutants, and the mechanisms by which they influence processes in biological systems. Students should also have knowledge of the theoretical concept of biomarkers, and of the different classes of biomarkers.
