About the course

Course content

The course runs every second year (2010, 2012).
The course will be concerned with the theoretical foundation for protection of biological diversity. The lectures will cover subjects such as: extinction of species, protection of species, biodiversity conservation, genetics in small, scattered populations and also strategies for a sustainable exploitation of ecosystems. Students will work individually or in groups with a conservation project.

Learning outcome

On completion of the course the students should be familiar with the theoretical foundation for protection of biological diversity. Students should also have knowledge of important subjects such as: extinction of species, protection of species, biodiversity conservation, genetics in small, scattered populations and also strategies for a sustainable exploitation of ecosystems.
