About the course

Course content

Central elements are basic dance technique, from traditional dance and development in individual dance training. In addition to the teaching sessions of the program. The student is required to practice dancing in traditional/ folk dance environments and to be part of students’ performances and projects.
Compulsory courses: ”The music in dancing” This course is based on practical sessions, lectures and work in groups to have the two groups of students work together. The course is evaluated as completed / not completed based on participation in the compulsory teaching

Learning outcome

The student shall learn to perform and pass on traditional dance on a high level as solo dance and couple dance

Learning methods and activities

The course is given in intensive sessions, and solo and couple dance technique is mainly taught in plenary, partly for smaller groups. The student will work with individual practical tasks between sessions. The tasks also include writing of logs and producing recordings from exercises for the teachers’ weekly distance supervision of each students work. Oral reports on dancing in traditional/ folk dance environments are given at the intensive sessions.

The main dance exercise in subject DANCE1002 Basic Ethnochoreology II, will be adviced further under this subject. Students which previous have taken the subject DANCE1002 have to develope this previous work further and attend the public presentation of the main dance exercise. The main dance exercise is under this subject DANCE4010 evaluated as completed/ not completed based on participation in further advicement and public presentation.
