About the course

Course content

The student shall aquire insight into fieldwork and sources for traditional dance and music.

Learning outcome

The student shall gain insight into fieldwork and learn to search for and use of archival sources to gain knowledge of tradtional dance and music

Learning methods and activities

The course is given in intensive sessions, with lectures and individual work. The lectures will partly be shared with DANS2002 Etnokoreologi, dokumentasjon og notasjon, partly with BA in traditional music at Ole Bull Akademiet. The student will conduct a fieldwork which results in an essay and a presentation. The essay and the presentation count for half of the mark each.

Required previous knowledge

Admission to the BA in traditional Dance. Fullfilled DANS 1001 and 1002
