About

About the course

Course content

The course provides training in practical skills/dramatic acting and theoretical reflection, in addition to information on relevant professions and areas of society in which the acquired skills and knowledge may be applied.

The course requires the student's attendance and engagement, especially regarding the practical assignments and the seminars. All the practical assignments are included in the required activities that are compulsory in order to receive the final course assessment.

Learning outcome

The course will provide the students with a basic introduction to improvisation, role playing, and various forms of drama pedagogy.

Learning methods and activities

The instruction is provided in the form of lectures, group instruction, and exercises.

Through weekly lecture series, aspects of improvisation and the theory of acting will be examined, in addition to the history and theory of drama pedagogy. Practical group work will be arranged concurrently and in connection with relevant issues from the lecture series. There will also be exercise assignments, and possible guest lectures/plays.

Course requirements:
In order to receive the final assessment in DRA1002 the student must have achieved an attendance and participation of minimum 80% of the practical work. In addition the student is required to submit three assignments that must all be approved. Two of these are individual, written assignments, while the third is a practical group assignment. The written assignments should consist of 1600 to 2000 words.

More on the form of assessment:
The student selects and adapts one of the two individual practice assignments and submits this text for final assessment. The scope of the text for final assessment must be between 3000 and 4000 words. The work will be marked with a letter grade.
