About the course
Course content
The course is connected to field studies of development or performance analysis, including research through dramatic forms (research presentation). The course is relevant to students who are undertaking a practical variant of the Master's thesis, or who have practical field work as the basis for their Master's thesis.
Learning outcome
Students will become familiar with methods of collecting data such as interviews and observation, as well as gaining practice in methodical reflections on the treatment of materials of field and culture. The course will also provide experience in the use of dramatic devices in connection with research.
Learning methods and activities
Instruction is offered in the form of lectures, practical and method-based exercises, and tutoring (individually and in groups). The course may - in specific cases, and after approval - be carried out as an external project.
Course requirement:
The project report counting 4000-6000 words must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the examination.
More on the form of assessment:
The examination consists of a performance/demonstration in the presence of an external sensor, as well as an individual oral defense of the presentation.
Students are required to keep posted on messages from the department or teacher at It's learning and at course web pages or bulletin boards.
Compulsory assignments

DRA3001 Research Methods in Drama and Theatre, DRA3003 History and Theory, Advanced Course and DRA3004 Contemporary Research in Drama and Theatre.
Required previous knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Drama and Theatre. Admission to the Master's programme in Drama and Theatre.
