Course content

The course explores a topic of central importance within the field of English linguistics, literature or civilisation studies, or an interdisciplinary topic spanning more than one of those subfields. The course may build upon themes explored in lower-level courses. A more detailed description of the academic content will be available in the reading list at the beginning of the semester.

Learning outcome

To develop deeper understanding of a special topic within the field of English linguistics, literature or civilisation studies, and of scientific approaches suitable for the analysis of the subject material. To develop written and oral proficiency in English, as well as abilities in academic argumentation.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures/seminars, discussions, supervision. Assessment: Home exam, approx. 4000 words/10-12 pages.

Compulsory assignments

• 1 written assignment, approx. 3000 words/7-8 pages.

Recommended previous knowledge

Bachelor's degree with specialisation in English.
