About the course

Course content

The following topics are covered:
- Heat exchanger types and their classification.
- Methods for thermal-hydraulic calculations of heat exchangers (analytical and numerical).
-Shell-and-tube heat exchangers: Shellside flow distribution (Flow-stream models).
-Speciel topics, e.g. flow maldistribution in heat exchangers, transient behaviour, flow-induced vibrations, thermal fouling.

Learning outcome

The course will give an advanced treatment of methods for thermal-hydraulic design and calculations for single-phase and two-phase applications.

Requires basic knowledge in heat transfer equivalent to topic TEP4130 Heat and Mass Transfer.
