About the course

Course content

The following topics are covereed:
-Thermal conduction: Conductivity in solids, liquids and gases. Steady-state conduction heat transfer incl. fins/extended surfaces. Determination of contact-resistance. Transient conduction heat transfer.
-Thermal radiation heat transfer: Radiation properties for solids, liquids and gases. Radiation between surfaces. Radiation in absorbing media. Heat transfer by radiation in combination with conduction and/or convection. Simplified calculation methods for thermal radiation in enclosures.

Learning outcome

To give an advanced treatment of heat transfer and practical calculation methods for thermal conduction and radiation heat transfer related to process equipment.

Good basic knowledge in heat transport equivalent to topic TEP4130 Heat and Mass Transfer.
