Course - Modelling of Multiphase Flow - EP8404
Modelling of Multiphase Flow
About
About the course
Course content
The main content is basic aspects of detailed mechanistic modelling of multiphase flows, including numerical technigues for typical examples of such flows in technological context. Particular topics include: Conservation laws and interface conditions, averaging theorems, local and global forms, dispersed flow and turbulence, hydrodynamic interaction between phases, distributed effects in two-and three dimensions, waves and instabilities on interfaces, driftflux and two-fluid models, dynamic multiphase transport.
Learning outcome
The subject is intended to give insight and skills in mechanistic modelling and computation of multiphase flow.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and written voluntary exercises. The course is being taugth only if 5 or more students are enrolled.
Required previous knowledge
Some background in theoretical fluid mechanics, including turbulence, beyond introductory level; for example TEP4155 Viscous flow and turbulence.
Course materials
Course notes and extracts from text books.
