About the course

Course content

The course introduces how Norway, as a nation, has dealt with the European integration process. The EU is analysed both with respect to Norwegian foreign policy and Norwegian domestic policy. Furthermore, legislation related to the EU is studied; in addition, the dynamic in the two referendums of 1972 and 1994 is studied. The course also provides an introduction to the EEA-agreement and how this legally, politically and financially regulates Norway’s relation to the EU.

Learning outcome

The course should give an understanding of Norway’s relation to the EU and why Norway is not a member of the EU; additionally, the course should provide insight into the implications of the EEA-agreement for Norway.

Lectures.

  • One written assignment, approx. 2000 words/5 pages

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Europastudier med fremmedspråk (BEUROP)

Required previous knowledge

Requires admission to the Bachelor's programme European Studies and Foreign Languages.
