About the course
Course content
The course presents European organizations that are external to the EU, such as the Council of Europe, NATO, the WEU, the Nordic Council, OSCE, EFTA/EEA. The different agreements of co-operation are analysed in light of the tension between different national interests, regional interests and the greater goal of integration expressed in the EU. Norways placement and interests in this situation are also discussed.
Learning outcome
The course should provide an understanding of the complexity involved in the overlap of international political organizations in Europe, and their relevance for Norway, the EU and the European integration process in general.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures/seminars.
Compulsory assignments
- One approved written assignment, approx. 2000 words/5 p.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Europakunnskap med fremmedspråk (MEUROP)
Europastudier (MEUROPA)
Recommended previous knowledge
Bachelor's degree in European Studies and Foreign Languages or equivalent approved education.
Required previous knowledge
Requires admission to the Master's programme in European Studies.
