About the course

Course content

The course gives an introduction into European history of thoughts as well as to general theories and methods within cultural science. It follows specific codings of European history, it considers the historical fact that cultural science has developed in an interdisciplinary exchange of European theories since the beginning of the 20th century, and it discusses various fields of research within European cultural history.

Learning outcome

The students should have the theoretical insight and methodical proficiency for analysing and understanding current debates on cultural processes in Europe and in the linguistic community they study.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures/seminars. Assessment: Home exam of approx. 10-12 pages, written in English.
