Course content
The course may be approached in one of the following manners:
1:Classical piano.
2.Figure playing/improvisation.
3:Secondary instrument (for students with well-developed skills with chord instruments).
Jazz students with piano as main instrument receive drumset instruction.
Church music students choose either piano or cembalo.
Learning outcome
Practical skills in playing a chordal instrument are an important basis for studies in music performance. The course will provide such basis in order to enhance the acquisition of other musical subjects like aural training, improvisation, harmony etc.
Learning methods and activities
0.5 - 1 hours of instruction a week (individually or in groups) over two semesters (27 weeks). Individual exercise.
Compulsory assignments
- Studied repertoire 30 minutes
- Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Musikk, utøvende (BMUSP)
Utøvende musikk (BMUSK)
Required previous knowledge
Requires admission to the Bachelor's programme in Music Performance Studies.
