Course content
Film screenings and analyses of examples from film history make up the core of the course, along with basic film theoretical perspectives and an introduction to the first decades in the history of the film medium. Introduction to the basic narrative techniques of classical Hollywood cinema is an important part of the course.
Learning outcome
The course gives a basic introduction to subjects and questions central to the film studies discipline.

Lectures, film screenings, tutorials.
Comulsory assignments:
Students must pass an oral presentation before final assessment can be made.

The method of assessment will be a 3 days take-home exam.
