About the course

Course content

The course will deal with the following issues:
- Region, landscape and climate
- Analyses of places, studies of built up environment and streetscape and urban spaces
- Ecology and sustainability

Learning outcome

To develop an understanding of the relationship between location, esthetics and built form. The students should familiarise themselves with urban design terminology and methods to be able to assess the character of places and locations and for describing existing qualities of spaces. The objective of the course is to elaborate professionally attitudes relevant to planning and architectural interventions.

Learning methods and activities

The course is based on assignments, conducted partly as group work. Coursework will mainly be related to relevant professional challenges, with lectures and seminars linked to actual assignments.
