About the course

Course content

Different periods in French literary history from the 16th century up untill the present are studied, exemplified through analysis of a selection of literary texts.

Learning outcome

Students should be familiar with the main periods of French literary history from the Renaissanse up untill the present. They should have developed skills in literary analysis.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures with discussions.

Compulsory assignments

  • 1 written assignment (1-2 p.)

None

Course materials

Extracts from a work on French literary history, for example Lauvergnat-Gagnière et al.Précis de littérature francaise. 2 literary works (fiction) and 10 pages of poetry.

The reading list will be available at the beginning of the semester.
