About the course
Course content
The course covers a selection of post-World War II French literature. The main focus of the course is the relation between the specifically literary aspects of the text and its linguistic form. Exercises will be given to develop the student's oral and written proficiency in French.
Learning outcome
Students should acquire knowledge of post-World War II French literature and modern French language. They should be able to analyse both thematic and linguistic aspects of the texts, and present their knowledge in written and spoken French.
Learning methods and activities
A combination of lectures, discussion groups and student activities in relation to presentation of the texts. Assessment: Home exam 5-6 pages, in French. 10 minutes' oral examination based on the curriculum. Both parts of the exam are graded together. Failing one part of the exam entails failing the whole course. Students who fail must sit both parts again.
Compulsory assignments
- 2 written assignment on French, each approx. 2 pages/800 words
