About the course
Course content
Central aspects of French grammar are covered, such as the use of articles and tense. Form and meaning linked to French syntactic structures is emphasised. Contrasting aspects of French and Norwegian will be central, and will be linked to translation from Norwegian to French. Central aspects of French phonetics/phonology will also be covered.
Learning outcome
Students should know key differences between Norwegian and French syntax. They should also master basic rules of French pronunciation.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and group sessions with discussion.
Compulsory assignments
- 1 written assignment in phonetics/phonology, 1-2 pages
- 1 written assignment in grammar, approx. 3 pages, in Norwegian

Course materials
Parts of a French grammar for university level. Texts for translation will be handed out during the semester. The curriculum in phonology consists of texts distributed in class as well as the teaching itself.
