Course content
A theoretical course where central issues in French linguistics are studied. Focus will be on studying the interaction between syntax, semantics and pragmatics.
Learning outcome
Students should be able to display knowledge of improtant issues and notions within French grammar. They should be able to analyse and comment on syntactic, semantic and pragmatic matters in a selection of French texts.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and group sessions with discussion. Assessment: Home exam, approx. 5 p. Oral exam, 20 minutes. Both parts of the exam are graded together. Failing one part of the exam entails faling the whole course. Students who fail must sit both parts of the exam again.
Compulsory assignments
- 1 assignment written in French, 3-4 pages
