About the course

Course content

This course will emphasise the way France's history and culture influence and have been influenced by Europe. The study of France’s political and conceptual contribution to the European identity will be central.

Learning outcome

Students should have gained insight into the role of France in Europe and how France is an integrated part of the European community.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group sessions with discussion. Teaching will be conducted in Norwegian, alternatively in French in agreement with the students. Assessment: Home exam 6-8 pages. Both parts of the exam are graded together. Failing one part of the exam entails failing the whole course. Students who fail must sit both parts again.

Compulsory assignments

  • 1 assignment written in French or Norwegian, 4-5 pages.
