About the course
Course content
Linear accelerators for radiation therapy, clinical radiation dosimetry, characteristics and specifications of radiation fields (target volumes, critical organs, tumour control probability, therapeutic ratio). Fractionated radiotherapy, intensity-modulated therapy (IMRT), real-time verification of radiotherapy. 3D dose planning, inverse dose planning, Monte Carlo methods for dose planning. External photon and electron therapy, brachytherapy.
Learning outcome
Students learn main elements of practical dosimetry and modern radiotherapy planning.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, demonstrations of clinical radiation therapy procedures.
Recommended previous knowledge
The course is based on MSc level knowledge in medical physics and radiation biophysics.
