Course - Dispersion Patterns of Heavy Metals in Soil and Water - GB8503
Dispersion Patterns of Heavy Metals in Soil and Water
About
About the course
Course content
The course focuses on geochemical aspects concerning spreading and concentration of heavy metals in soil and different aquatic environments (mining areas, rivers, estuaries, and coast near regions). It will be emphasized on understanding physical as well as chemical spreading and sorption mechanism (interaction between water, heavy metals and particular materials) and how these are influenced by geochemical and geological processes.
Learning outcome
The aim of the course is to give students a more detailed knowledge at a high level in specific topics related to dispersion of heavy metals in soils and different aquatic environments.
Learning methods and activities
As an exercise, the candidates are requested to work individually with an important topic which is dealt with in the course and present the result as an article.
Recommended previous knowledge
Master degree or equivalent in geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology or hydrogeology.
Required previous knowledge
Graduate course in hydrogeology.
Course materials
Selected literature from text books and articles from international journals
Subject areas
- Technological subjects
