About
About the course
Course content
An introduction to some of the central themes, concepts and methods of approach from many of Geographys sub-disciplines is provided through lectures and fieldwork. This is related to a Norwegian rural context. Part of the teaching is based on examples from a concrete region in Trøndelag. Students gain knowledge on how the landscape is formed through natural and human-influenced processes. The historical development of the country, current problems and spatial conflicts, landscape characteristics, population, ways of life, and economy, as well as place identity/regional identity are studied. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between individual and community as well as the relationships between local, national and global processes.
Group assignments are included as part of the fieldwork. Each group prepares a field- work report, which must be approved before the written examination can be taken.
