Course content
The main emphasis is on the themes of development theory, geopolitics, NorthSouth relations, and aid systems and ideologies. The questions raised include: What is development? How are the social advantages distributed in the society in which we live and in the world in general? What does globalization mean in a development perspective? How is aid organized and how is it reflected in our foreign policy?
During the semester each student writes a semester paper, which must be approved before the written examination can be taken.
Learning outcome
The course gives an introduction to Development Geography. The aim is to give a broad overview of some central themes in development theory and practice. Such insights should provide a better basis for understanding todays development situation and issues.
Learning methods and activities
Teaching method and activities: 36 hours lectures and approved semester paper.
