About

About the course

Course content

The course studies processes and process systems that contribute to material transport and hence to the development of the physical landscape, with focus on the boreal, polar and alpine regions. Emphasis is on the processes that operate on slopes, and on the relative significance of different material fluxes within an area. The course provides examples of applied research objectives related to land use, intervention and protection measures in regions at risk, as well as system response to changes in climate. The course is taught every other year, alternating with course GEOG 3513 Fluvial Processes.

Learning outcome

The course provides an understanding of slope systems, and a comprehensive evaluation of different forms of material transport and their significance in the development of landscapes in cool and cold regions.

Learning methods and activities
