About

About the course

Course content

The thesis accounts for 30 study points and should be 50–60 pages in length. The Department has prepared a working plan for the completion of work in connection with the thesis, to make it easier for students to complete their studies within the normal time period allocated. Important points are:

- In the 7th semester the course - GEOG3003 Methodology and the research process is taken. The student should decide on the theme of their master’s thesis early in this semester. A 3-4 page project outline should be submitted for approval by 1st November. This forms the basis for the assignment of supervisors.
- In the 8th semester the second PPU-semester is taken. If the research objective requires data collection, it is important that the student uses this semester to gather the relevant data.
- In the 9th semester any data collected is processed and analysed. The semester is reserved for writing up the thesis and electives.
- In the 10th semester course GEOG3001: History and Philosophy of Geography is taken. The master’s thesis is finished.
