About the course

Course content

The student must prepare a project proposal of at least 6-8 pages before November 1. in the first term. On the basis of the project proposal, a faculty member will be appointed as academic supervisor in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Board of the Department. The supervisor must be kept informed about the progress of the writing. The thesis consists of a scientific presentation of a chosen topic. The thesis should be 90 - 100 pages (Times Roman 12/ spacing 1.5/ approximately 40.000 words).

Learning outcome

The aim of the course is to give the students training in doing a substantial individual research project.

Learning methods and activities

Seminars with emphasis on theoretical and practical issues related to the writing of a master’s thesis will be held during the first and the second year. Students are expected to present their thesis work for fellow students and faculty members at 2-3 seminars. It is expected that students will need a full academic year to complete the thesis. It is recommended that students start to work on their thesis in their second term.

Exam: Thesis and oral exam. The oral exam is used to adjust the grade given for the thesis.

Natural Resources Management (MSNARM)

Required previous knowledge

This course is only for students on the Master of Science in Natural Mangament Programme.
