About the course

Course content

Emphasis will be put on relevant basic debates concerning the work with an essay which is to be based on the PhD thesis. The essay is to be submitted and presented at one of the mandatory sessions. The submitted essay will be commented upon by one of the Department's academic staff and by one PhD candidate.

Learning outcome

The research seminar is based on GEOG 3001 (Philosophy of Geography, Theories and Concepts), and aims to provide candidates with high competence on basic debates (ideas and scientific theoretical assumptions) within the field of study.

Learning methods and activities

Teaching method and activities: Lectures/seminars, presentation of essay. Compulsory activity: Participation in sessions. Form of assessment: Approved essay. The course is taught in English if there are English speaking participants in the course.
