About the course

Course content

An introduction will be given in the geological processes with emphasis on mechanisms that form and change the land and the environment. This includes internal processes like plate movements, volcanism and earthquakes together with external processes like mass movements, the work of water and wind, weathering and sediment deposition. Further the subject will give an introduction in geological resources and what they mean (importance they have) for the humanity. Emphasis will also be given on understanding the cooperation between geology and the human environment.

Learning outcome

The subject shall give the student an understanding of the relation between geology and the human environment and how humans can manage the geological environment in a best way for a sustainable development.

Lectures. Excursions with compulsory report of own observations.
