About the course

Course content

The course provides a broad overview of development and central historical problems in the period 1550-1850. The course will focus on Norwegian, European and global hstory in context, in a period when the geographical scope of human beings was expanded. The subject will reach from the aftermath of reformation and the European expansion in the 16th century, to the industrial revolution and the political revolutions in the 18th and 19th centuries, considering different aspects of society in context.

Learning outcome

Achieve basic knowledge of development and central historical problems in the period 1550-1850

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group work. One take-home exercise that is graded as approved/not approved.

Compulsory assignments

  • One approved home assignment with supervision
