About the course

Course content

The course provides an overview of how our understanding of the past emerges. Issues related to the development of field of histroy and how history has been understood, presented and used are discussed in the course. The course is an obligatory module in the bachelor programme in history.

Learning outcome

The aim of the subject is to introduce the students to the most common methods beeing used in historical research and presentation, and at the same time to train the students in reflecting critically over principal aspects of historical knowledge.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group instruction. One approved written assignment and a four-hour final exam.
