About the course

Course content

This course deals with the state development process in Europe in the 13th and 14th centuries. The course will provide an overview of selected aspects of the prosess: war, administrative developments, the role of the aristocracy etc. Focus will be on the cultural and ideological aspects. We will study the state development in Norway, however focus will be on developments in England, France and Spain.

Learning objectives; to regard the development of the medieval state in an ideological and cultural perspective.
