About

About the course

Course content

Genocide and human rights problems can be studied from a traditional historical perspective to find out what has happened and why. This course uses this approach. However, when scrutinizing the explanations given for historical events, it soon becomes evident that perceptions and interpretations of history have played an important part for motivating and justifying infringements. Interpretations of earlier genocides have also contributed to justifying subsequent political practice. The main focus of the course is on the use of history in such contexts.
