About the course

Course content

The course gives an introduction to the most important methods for collecting and analyzing quantitative data. It presents questions regarding the sampling, measurements, experiment and survey design, quantitative data analysis and statistical processing.

Learning outcome

The students shall be able to: 1) prepare and perform quantitative surveys, 2)analyse, report and evaluate quantitative data, this includes being able to use the most common statistical methods, 3) read scientific publications with a critical view.

Learning methods and activities

The course starts with one week intensive compulsory pre-course in methods. Teaching methods and activities: Lectures and excercises.There are exercises in analysis of a quantitative material. Form of assessment: Term paper. The exam is a term paper where the student will carry out a quantitative analysis of a chosen problem, from one or two sets of data made available to the students.
