About the course

Course content

This course will explore theory and research on contemporary conceptions of health differences, body, construction of deviance and normality, and technology in health.

Learning outcome

The student has a basic knowledge about sociolocal contribution to the understanding of health and illness. The student has developed a sufficiently critical understanding of the scientific basis of health professions and how these affect and are affected by social structures and institutions.

Learning methods and activities

Teaching methods and activities: Lectures, student based assignments, group discussions.
Form of assessment: 4-hour written exam.

Required previous knowledge

Bachelor or the equivalent of the Health Sciences or Social Studies.
