About the course

Course content

The course provides an intoduction to new scientific knowledge about life conditions ande modes of living for children/youth and their families receiving public health- or social services om permanent or partial basis for their everyday life living. Further the course will stimulate the students to develop a critical understanding of the existing knowledge and its methodological approaches. What kind of children and youth the course will give attention to will vary and will be specified in the announcement of the course (E.g. disabled children, children with chronically physical- and/or mental problems, childre of the Children welfare authorities, children with migrant background etc.). Participants are expected to read papers from students that take part in the course with paper (Children of the welfare state I). One will be appointed as discussant for at least one of the papers.

Learning outcome

The candidate has developed her/his qualifications related to the specific group of children/young people, and has sufficient scientific knowledge in the field and analytical reflections about children and youth who partly or on permanent basis receive public health and/or social services to help them maintain their everyday life.
