Course content

The course will enable students to communicate,in writing, in a scientific manner and master this when a project should be communicated and published as a research result. For further qualification in academia there is a requirement for writing scientific articles. This is a necessary expertise since many good projects otherwise halt at the dissemination. Teaching in the course consists of scientific writing, scientific literature, scientific evaluation of literature and ranking of journals, use of references, publication ethics and the publication process.

Learning outcome

Knowledge
The student:
- Have a thorough knowledge of scientific writing in form of design and structure, clear and specific expressions, logical reasoning, theoretical basis, use of references, discussion and significance of results

Skill
The student:
- Writes a scientific essay according to scientific standards

General competence
The student:
- Design a scientific text according to scientific standards

Learning methods and activities

The program comprises one-week of teaching with lectures and seminars. After this week the students write an essay. Students are given individual tutoring. Students choose their topic in consultation with the supervisor. A Learning platform will be used for communication and submission of assignments.

Further on evaluation

Postponed exam will be arranged for students who have failed or have legitimate absence.

Students who have failed applies revision and improvement of the failed paper. Students are entitled to one hour`s guidance.

Students who delivers for the first time (ex. legitimate absence at the ordinary exam) applies the same guidelines as the ordinary exam.

Admission to a programme of study is required:

Required previous knowledge

There are no prerequisites beyond admission to the study program. The course is reserved for students who are admitted to the master program of activity and movement at the university.
