About

About the course

Course content

Students participate in practical activities and measure volume and intensity through observation, heart rate, accelerometry, and questionnaires. Measures of activity are analyzed within theories of motivational climate, play, interaction and well-being. The course emphasises alternative ways of organizing physical activity, training and sports. The relation between organization and intensity in different activities is also addressed.

Learning outcome

This course introduces students to the effect of organization on physical activity and sport. The course will focus on practical experiences with subjective and objective measures of volume and intensity in different physical activities. Activity is approached from physiological, social, relational and interaction perspective.

Learning methods and activities

Throughout the semester there are 2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of group education per week, apart from the weeks reserved for writing the compulsory term paper. The term paper is written individually based on data from the participation in practical activities and it is expected that relevant theory is applied. Extent of the paper is 12-15 pages using Times Roman font with a line spacing of 1.5 lines. Tutoring is available for the term paper. Form of assessment is the term paper.
Admission to the course is restricted. All students must register in STUDWEB within 1 June (autumn semester) and 1 December (spring semester) if they want to take a course with restricted admission. This procedure must also be followed by students admitted to a programme of study where the course is obligatory. Students admitted to the particular programme of study will be given priority.
