About the course

Course content

This course will look into the questions on the regulation and organization of sports and culture, at the local, the national and the global level. Comparative case studies will also be included. Commercial potentials and challenges of different forms of regulation and organization are considered, as well as distributional consequences of different regulatory regimes (for instance, tickets). The course represents a unique blend of perspectives from sociology, law, political science and culture studies.

Learning outcome

The aim of the course is to give an overview and introduction to the broad field of sport and culture from a multi-disciplinary perspective, including regulatory and legal issues.

Learning methods and activities

One week intensive teaching, with lectures and seminars, up to 6 hrs each day. A course paper should be submitted within three weeks after the course. Choice of topic is negotiated between students and instructors.
