About the course
Course content
The course treats different aspects of web-based digital libraries: information objects, systems architecture, technology and applications.
Modelling, design, and description of content: general methods, specific methods for selected applications and/or user groups. The FRBR-model is presented. Interoperability between systems and collections. Open Access; Open Archives The course introduces several models and architectures for (distributed) digital libraries, examples: Geo-referenced Digital libraries, Digital libraries and e-Learning. Evaluation of digital libraries, and of the main components such as technology, content, users and usage.
Learning outcome
During the course the students will learn through theory and practice how to design and develop systems with collections of multi-media objects, where the multi-media objects can be retrieved and re-used in applications.

IT2802 Information Management. IT2801 Information Retrieval and TDT4175 Information Systems, or equivalent, are recommended.
