About the course
Course content
The course begins with a consideration of methodology dealing with, among other things, sampling of soil and other enviromental matrices, sample density, sample treatment, chemical analysis, statistical treatment and production of maps.The main part includes use and interpretation of geochemical data in exploration, environmental studies, geomedicine, agriculture and land use planning.
Learning outcome
The course gives an overview of practical use of geochemical data in society.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures/excercises (3 hours per week). English teaching by request.
Recommended previous knowledge
This course is intended primarily for master and doctorate students and builds on knowledge within environmental chemistry corresponding to Environmental Chemistry (KJ2070 or KJ2071). Examples of other courses useful as a background are advanced courses in geology and environmental studies.
