Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships
About
About the course
Course content
The course will cover different methods for representing molecular structure in structure-activity relationships. Standard theoretical and empirical descriptors will be discussed. Example descriptors are topological indices, WHIM, 3D-Morse and molecular shape analysis. Of particular interest is representation based on the Atoms in molecules (AIM) theory and quantum similarity. In addition, more classical methods such as COMFA and COMSIA will also be included.
Learning outcome
The student should know and be able to use the theory of selected methods within the field of structure-activity relationships.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures (ca. 3 hours per week). A mandatory project report must be submitted before the exam (pass/don't pass). Oral exam. English teaching by request.
Recommended previous knowledge
The course requires TKJ4175 Introduction to chemometrics or similar background, basic knowledge in linear algebra, statistics and quantum chemistry.
