About the course

Course content

This course offers a survey of Medieval European literature. Texts are read in one or several languages, normally Latin or Greek.

Learning outcome

The student is expected to achieve a deeper knowledge of literature and culture of the European middle ages and also to improve her/his knowledge of at least one of the languages employed in literature of this epoch.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars; essay; individual tutoring through It´s learning/email. The lectures are normally held during a concentrated period of 2 weeks at the Norwegian Institute in Rome, the Norwegian Institute in Paris, or at the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul. It is not compulsory to attend these lectures. The students should contact the institute no later than 24 August.
